THE CONCEPT
acroBabble is a multi-player game where you try to outwit and outpace your opponents
by concocting the funniest expansion to randomly chosen acronyms. The game consists of
rounds in which you are presented a random acronym. The acronyms can be between
3 and 5 letters. You have 60 seconds to come up with a funny entry. Each round also has
a category associated with it (like Sports, Politics, etc.). You should try to make your
acronym match the category. At the end of the round, players vote for the funniest entry.
Players get points for each vote. You also get bonus points for being the first to
submit an entry.
SCORING
You win 1 point for each person who votes for your acronym. However, you MUST vote
to get points for your own entry. Obviously, you cannot vote for your own entry.
The first person to submit an entry (the fastest dude or dudette) who also gets at
least one vote gets an extra speed bonus.
In addition, you get +1 bonus points for voting for the winner. So you do have an
incentive to vote for the very best entry. The winner also get +2 bonus points for
winning. When a player scores 30 or more points, he/she and the second placed player
enter the "Face off" round.
If you don't vote for 3 consecutive rounds, you will be booted. Also, please keep
the acronyms clean. The system will filter out some profanity, but we also ask that
you generate some clean humor.
FACE OFF
The top two players after at least one player has scored 30 points go into a "face-off."
The players get 3 rounds of acros consisting of 3, 4 and 5 letters with 30 seconds per
round to create the acro. The rest of the players vote on the best acro.
If a player fails to register an acro, all votes automatically go to the other player.
The winner of the face-off round is the winner of the game. If Face-Off is a tie, then
the highest scorer in the regular play is the winner.
